The mystic city of San Giovanni Rotondo is located in the inland of the Gargano promontory, also called the "Spur of Italy", a massive montainside isolated from the Appennine range, subject to karstic phenomena and delimited from high and scraggy coasts, in the norther part of Apulia.
The city was founded in the beginning of the past century on the ruins of a village of the IV century a.C. and in the hamlets of Sant'Egidio and Curvara there are some visible signs, as the graves or the circular baptistry, from which originates the name of San Giovanni Rotondo.
