Aosta Valley is the smallest region in Italy, encircled with the highest and most beautiful alpine tops of Europe and the main city of Aosta is the ideal departure point for mountain excursions or daily trips, for its central location in the valley.
Aosta is the ancient Augusta Praetoria which was founded by the Romans, and it retains the walls, the gates and the original street plan they gave to the town.

If you love folkore and curious happenings you can admire te Great Saint Bernard carnival with its ancient masks bringing joy in every house-hold, recalling Napoleon's passage through the valley, or partecipate to the various folk and gastronomic festivals tasting the many typical products of Aosta Valley.
In Aosta take place the annual "Fiera di Sant'Orso" a fair of typical agricultural wooden products, famous all over in the world.
Furthermore, by the Tunnel of Mount Blanc and the Great St. Bernard Pass, both surrounded by the snowcapped peaks of the Alps, Aosta and the Valley are linked to France and Switzerland, for more easy trips.
