Hotels Sorrento

Sorrento is a charming holiday resort set in the southern part of the pictoresque gulf of Naples, in a territory characterized by citrus and orange groves, parks and garden. Thanks to its inspired location and the mild climate the locality drawing foreigners from all over Europe for close on 200 years. Illustrious visitors lived in these places such as Charles Dickens, Helman Melvill and Friedtich Nietzche.
If you just pause a moment to observe the sunset in the direction of Punta del Capo, of Ischia or Procida, the outlines of which can be seen clearly, you will be amazed by the variety of colours and the beauty of the scene. Or look, preferably from the sea, towards the imposing cliff of tuff rock that changes colour at every hour of the day.

Sorrento's center is Piazza Tasso, situated in the middle of Corso Italia, and dedicated to the great poet who was born here in 1544. In Sant'Antonio square rises the Basilica of the XI century,with a pretty crèche, and the Cathedral in romanesque style, going back to the XV century. Deserve a visit the Museum Correale di Terranova that conserve painted, chinas and sculptures nonthat ancient editions of the works of Tasso.
There's nothing much to see in Sorrento itself but it's nice to wander through the streets of the historical center, some of which are pedestrianized, rich of storees and elegant restaurants where it is possible to taste the local food.

Strange as it may seem, Sorrento isn't particulary well provided of beaches. The shoreline is divided in two parts, Marina Piccola, landing place of ferries and hydrofoils, and Marina Grande, where lie colors bathing establishments. Sorrento constitutes moreover the ideal center for those who wants to make excursions to Capri, Ischia, Positano and Amalfi, that are all at a short distance.
The city with its nearly twelve thousand beds, distributed between hotels, farm holidays and camps is a perfect destination for who visit the Campania region.
