Hotels Novara

The city of Novara is set between the Agogna and Terdoppio torrents in the river Po plain at 101 km from Turin and 50 from Milan.
A fertile plain which is the production land of rice, maize and sweetcorn with the characteristic country farms set between the Sesia river and the Ticino, on the border between Piedmont region and Lombardy, where the renowm Gorgonzola cheese is produced and backwards of the plain are set the vineyards on the hills where the optimal wines of Gattinara, Spanna and Sizzano are bottled.
A modern industrial town which it is defined as a Piedmont peninsula in the Lombardy territory, at an easy reach from the new airport of Milan Malpensa, where visitors can bind together to the beauties of the art and history of Novara also the richest tradition of exclusive food and wine tastes.
In town and in the outskirts there are good hotels, lodges, typical restaurants and trattorie even if, on a tourist point of view, the near region of the Lakeside it has more appeal.
Its origins are of a Ligurian village then an important city in Roman age and after the alloy to Lega Lombarda, it became a Visconti territory. The historical center of Novara is a beautiful nineteenth-century setting dominated by the imposing cupola of the Basilica di San Gaudenzio, a masterpiece of Alessandro Antonelli. Behind the Basilica there is the Palazzo Faraggiana and a beautiful walk can be made under the portico galleries of piazza Martiri della Libertà, where the Sforzesco Castle is set and in piazza Cesare Battisti, this square is said also 'delle Erbe', amid many elegant Renaissance palaces and beautiful storees.
To mention is also a visit to the imposing Dome of Novara in the piazza della Repubblica, which is dedicated to the Madonna dell'Assunta and in the vicinities is set the Broletto area, that is the zone with the medieval buildings of the city.
