Positano is one of the most elegant and renowned holiday resorts of the Amalfi Coast, on the Thyrrenian sea. Thanks to its charming position and its mild climate it was a tourist destination since the Roman time, as testify the numerous villas. Since John Steinbeck wrote up this place in glowing terms in 1953, the village has enjoyed a great fame, as well as to be chosen by personages like Pablo Picasso, Rossellini, Toscanini and Pirandello.

Taking a walk in the historical center of Positano we can feel the atmosphere of the typical village of fishermen, with the characteristic white houses with the spherical cover and the front-small colonnade. From here, coming down for the numerous perrons, the beaches can be reached. The most important are the Spiaggia Grande, right in front of the village, and the Fornillo one, accessible in five minutes by a pretty path.
From the coast we can go to the archipelago of Sirenuse, or Li Galli, that is composed by three rocky island: Gallo Lungo, Rotonda and Castelluccio.

Positano is also famous in the world for fashion, as testify the elegant boutiques scattered in every corner of the village. The city, in fact, has long specialized in clothes made from linen and cotton as well as handmade shoes and sandals.
The church of Santa Maria Assunta and the tower saracena, constructed in the Middle Ages in order to defend itself by the frequent raids, deserve a visit.
