The medieval village of Tavarnelle Val di Pesa is dipped in the typical Tuscany countryside, between Florence and Siena, in the heart of the Chianti wine production area. In Badia a Passignano there is the ancient medieval monastry of San Michele, more similar to a fortress with its defense walls and in the in the refectory there is an ineresting Last Supper painted by Davide and Domenico Ghirlandaio. In the church there are frescoes of Domenico Cresti, named Passignano because he was born in this place, two paintings of Ghirlandaio and in cripta is buried San Giovanni Gualberto, the founder of the Vallombrosa order. From the castle you can admire the beatiful landscape of Chianti and in the village of Passignano there are a beautiful house-tower and the church of San Biagio.
Sambuca is a charming village hat rises around the Romanesque bridge that allowed the Pesa river crossing.
San Donato in Poggio conserves part of its town-walls building. On the main square are set the beautiful Renaissance Malaspina palace and the church of Santa Maria della Neve. In the main street is set the Bell Tower, the Florentine Door and part of the town-walls with the "Torrino"a particular shaped tower. Outside of the village there is the Pieve di San Donato in Poggio where in the inside it can be admired the christening font of Giovanni della Robbia, a trittico attributed to Giovanni del Biondo and other paintigns, a painted Cross attributed to the school of Giotto. By the antrance door of San Donato is set the Oratory of Santa Maria delle Grazie a Pietracupa with in the inside the frescoes of Paolo Schiavo representing the Madonna with the Child and a painting of Domenico Cresti called il Passignano.
