Castrocaro Terme is a small town in the province of Forli, set in the heart of Romagna region, near the course of Montone river. You can enter the village through two doors, both equipped with turrets. Entering from Port San Nicholas you arrive in the church with the same name, in Romanesque style dating back to the thirteenth century. Nearby lies the Palazzo Pretorio, the ancient seat of the court, with beautiful Renaissance decorations. Continuing in the path you enter into the Fortress, certainly the most important monument of Castrocaro Terme. This imposing structure is considered by experts as one of the best examples of medieval architecture and the recent restoration has increased its value.
Castrocaro Terme also boasts an important thermal complex, characterized by a marked Art-deco style. The precious waters of this area were already known at the time of Romans. Nowaday the curative properties of sulphureous waters and natural mud of Castrocaro Terme are recognized by all doctors. For this reason, the village has become a popular tourist destination known throughout Europe. In addition, the city hosts every year an important song event since 1957.
