Bocca di Magra is a small town in the eastern Liguria region, set a few kilometres from the border with Tuscany. This lovely seaside village overlooking the Gulf of La Spezia and lies on the right bank of the homonymous river. The main economic resources of this area are fishing, thanks to its active port, and tourism. In addition to being a popular seaside resort, the town is part of the Natural Park of Val di Magra, ideal for pleasant hiking immersed in the nature.

Bocca di Magra was already inhabited in Roman times, as testify the remains of a beautiful villa dating back from the first century AD. This luxurious summer residence is located south of the village, while the material found inside is kept in the Civic Museum of La Spezia. Having long been a simple fishing village, the locality has become in the post-war period a summer meeting place for famous writers like Eugenio Montale and Italo Calvino. Nowaday is a quiet seaside resort with a tourist port for the mooring of small yachts.

From Bocca di Magra leave in the summer many boats that lead tourists to discover the small inlets and beaches that this stretch of coastline offer. There are also ferry services to the nearby localities of Portovenere and Cinque Terre. For those who like to walk there is a spectacular coastal path that allows to get to the beautiful beache of Punta Corvo and enjoy an evocative view of the bay below. Also worth visiting Montemarcello, a small town of medieval origin, which is in the list of "Most beautiful villages of Italy".
