The city of Naples, worldwide known for its countless art treasures, spreads on the homonymous Gulf up to the slopes of the Vesuvio.
The Duomo with St. Gennaro’s Chapel, the “Maschio Angioino” and the Capodimonte Museum are only three of the numerous sites which are well worth a visit during a stay in Naples.

Naples downt-town is very antique and it is based on 3 axis, named Decumani, that go east to west and they are intersected by streets, called Cardini, that go north to south, making rectangulars house-blocks, the Isolati (insulae).
The Superior Decuman (Decumano Superiore) takes its name after two ancient walls of the 2nd century that support the Roman Theatre, these walls are visible along the via Anticaglia.
Around this area beatiful Churces like San Giovanni a Carbonara or Santa Maria di Donnaregina but also the Ospedale degli Incurabili (the incurable hospital).
The Major Decuman (Decumano Maggiore) is at via dei Tribunali, so named for it is the seat of the Law Courts, nearby the Capuano Castle.
In this area there is such a huge concentration of many ancient buildings and churches, such as San Lorenzo Maggiore Church and the Duomo, both have Greek-Roman remains in their underground, Girolami Convent with its Musical Conservatorio School, the churches of San Pietro a Maiella and Monte della Misericordia, the last one has a very important Pinacoteca where various paintings of the 18th & 19th century Neapolitan's school are kept.
The Inferior Decuman (Decumano Inferiore) better known as Spaccanapoli becouse it splits Naples in two equal parts, is at via Benedetto Croce and via San Biagio dei Librai.
Also in this area, there are beautiful churches, like Gesù Nuovo and Santa Chiara.
Along this way you will get to piazza San Domenico Maggiore where you may visit the Basilica and also Sansevero Chapel, the church of Sant'Angelo a Nilo and the renowned church of San Gregorio Armeno with its well-known market of X.mas shepherds and artist crib scenes.
